Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Field Maintenance Engineer in Stellenbosch to support critical infrastructure on a hybrid basis. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain complex mechanical, electrical, and control systems with on-site presence and remote reporting.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, proven field maintenance experience, proficiency with diagnostic tools and CMMS, strong problem-solving and communication, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Field Maintenance Engineer in the Stellenbosch area, operating on a hybrid model to support critical infrastructure. This role requires a proactive approach to ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of complex machinery and systems. You will be involved in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment, often requiring on-site presence, while utilizing remote tools for reporting, planning, and collaborating with the broader engineering team. This position is key to minimizing operational disruptions and maintaining high standards of equipment integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance plans for critical equipment.
• Analyze equipment performance data and implement improvements to enhance reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams, providing technical updates and recommendations, both remotely and in person.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts used, and recommendations for future work.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a field maintenance or service engineering role, preferably in an industrial setting.
