Placements24 is seeking a reliable Generator Installation and Maintenance Technician to support our essential services team in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will install, commission, maintain, and repair diesel and gasoline generators for commercial and industrial clients.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently in the field, contributing to uninterrupted power and infrastructure reliability across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience as Generator Technician or related mechanical/electrical field.
• Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and control panels.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for generators.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Install new generator sets, including wiring, fuel lines, and exhaust systems, according to specifications.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in generator engines and control systems.
• Conduct load bank testing and performance verification of generator units.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to generator power output, engine performance, and automatic transfer switches.
• Maintain accurate service reports, parts inventory, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
