Field Civil & Structural Engineer — Mining EPCM (On-site)

Job summary

Enginuity in Centurion is seeking a Civil & Structural Engineer to join our site-based team. This hands-on role suits someone comfortable on a dusty mine site or in our Centurion office, reporting to the multidisciplinary team and working across concept to commissioning on EPCM projects.

You will design, review, and coordinate structural work, ensure compliance with SANS and MHSA, travel regularly to sites, and support proposals with accurate man-hour estimates.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc (Eng) in Civil Engineering with a structural focus from a recognised university.
• 5-10 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Mining or heavy industrial project experience is non-negotiable.
• Registered with ECSA or actively working toward registration.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (Prokon, STAAD.Pro, or similar).
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
• Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel for structural detailing is advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence; regular site travel is a requirement of this role.
• Willingness to be fully site-based when projects require it.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to civil and structural engineering scopes on EPCM projects from concept through to construction and commissioning.
• Develop and review structural calculations, specifications, drawings, design basis reports, and material take-offs.
• Design and analyse steel, concrete, and composite structures including platforms, support steelwork, foundations, and structural steel for mining and processing equipment.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, EC&I, civil, and process disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections and provide structural engineering support during construction.
• Review fabricator and contractor documentation and attend site for technical oversight.
• Contribute to design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
• Support proposal development including man-hour estimates and technical scopes of work.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and statutory requirements (SANS, OHS Act, MHSA).
