Job summary
Octotel in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, is seeking a proactive technician to assist with fibre network installations and maintenance. You will prep sites, install infrastructure per site plans, and help manage stock and tools in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires a tertiary IT/telecommunications qualification (CFOT is a plus) and about 1 year of fibre splicing or installation experience; experience with power tools is essential, and the team offers attractive health and wellness
Qualifications
- 1 year of fibre splicing or installations experience.
- Tertiary IT/telecommunications qualification preferred.
- CFOT certificate advantageous.
- Experience using power-tools.
Responsibilities
- Prep and clean the site.
- Install the network infrastructure and equipment as per site plan.
- Responsible for electrical and hand tool inventory to be used.
- Delivering and distributing supplies (may involve heavy lifting).
- Assisting workers with equipment.
- Assembling and disassembling equipment.
- Learning new skills from experienced Technicians.
- Monitor and maintain stock.
- And any other reasonable task.
