Job summary

Helderberg Personnel is recruiting for a senior fruit production manager in the Western Cape. You will lead people, drive yields, plan seasonal production, manage harvests, ensure quality and safety, and oversee irrigation, spraying, and maintenance.

Requirements include a BSc in Agriculture or equivalent, 5–7 years of fruit production management experience (apples/pears), strong communication, IT literacy (Power BI, FarmTrace, DFM), and a valid Code C driver's license.

Qualifications

• BSc. Agric or similar qualification in Fruit Production Science and Management is required.
• 5–7 years of practical experience in fruit production management (apples/pears).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills and familiarity with IT systems (Power BI, FarmTrace, DFM) advantageous.
• Valid driver''s license (Code C) and ability to work flexible hours.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• People Management, motivation and direction according to company policies and vision
• Financial control of actions against budget
• Management, planning and control of seasonal production activities according to standard, including:
• Yield management, harvest operations, fruit handling and quality
• Maintenance of irrigation and fertigation systems
• Execution of accurate spraying and fertilisation programmes
• Maintenance and upkeep of farming infrastructure, machinery and tools
• Health and Safety and other compliance systems management
• Vision and Innovation

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc. Agric or similar Tertiary Qualification in Fruit Production Science and Management
• Minimum 5 - 7 years of practical experience in fruit production management (apples/pears)
• Excellent interpersonal- and communication skills and proven lingual proficiency
• Advanced Computer skills (MS Office) and familiarity with IT systems (Power BI, FarmTrace, DFM) will be advantageous
• Project Management skills and the ability to manage and meet deadlines
• Valid driver's license (Code C)
• Physically fit to perform work in various outdoor conditions
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby duty
