Job summary

Exceed Human Resource Consultants is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day farm operations, drive profitability, and achieve production targets.

The role requires planning and coordinating production, maintenance, budgeting, and staff development, with a strong focus on labour compliance, safety, and continuous improvement across farm activities.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (advantageous).
  • 5–10 years' experience in farm production or farm management.
  • Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, crop production, and agricultural best practices.
  • Good financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Sound understanding of South African labour legislation, health and safety requirements, and farm operations.
  • Strong leadership, people management, planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage teams, suppliers, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management and profitability of the farm, ensuring production targets and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor all farming activities, including production, maintenance, resource allocation, and quality management.
  • Manage farm budgets, monitor costs and financial performance, and report on operational results.
  • Lead and develop farm employees, implement HR policies, identify training needs, and ensure compliance with labour legislation and health and safety requirements.
  • Manage farm assets, suppliers, and service providers while ensuring equipment, infrastructure, and systems are maintained effectively.
  • Oversee new planting and infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and agricultural standards, while driving continuous improvement across farm operations.
