Placements24 is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead a mixed-crop and livestock operation in Mahikeng, North West. The role demands strong leadership, sound financial oversight, and hands-on expertise in crop production and animal husbandry to drive profitability and sustainable practices.

You will develop annual plans, supervise staff, manage equipment and records, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote ethical farming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or Farm Management.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in farm management, with demonstrated success in mixed operations.
• Proven expertise in both crop production and livestock management, relevant to the conditions of the North West province.
• Strong understanding of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
• Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and profitability analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing diverse teams.
• Proficiency in farm management software and standard office applications.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to reside or commute to the Mahikeng area.
• Commitment to ethical farming, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual farm plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, herd management, and financial budgeting.
• Oversee all aspects of crop production, from soil preparation and planting to harvesting and storage.
• Manage livestock operations, including breeding programs, feeding, health management, and welfare.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of farm staff, including foremen, laborers, and skilled workers, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety standards.
• Manage farm equipment and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance, repair, and efficient utilization.
• Monitor soil health, water resources, and pest/disease levels, implementing appropriate control measures.
• Maintain accurate farm records, including production data, financial transactions, inventory, and staff performance.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and labor laws in the North West region.
• Implement and promote sustainable farming practices to enhance soil fertility, conserve water, and protect biodiversity.
• Manage procurement of farm inputs (seeds, fertilizers, feed, veterinary supplies) and marketing of produce/livestock.
• Foster a positive and safe working environment for all farm personnel.
