About the Role

Our client is a well-established agricultural enterprise with significant operations in Centurion, Gauteng , seeking a highly capable and results-oriented Farm Manager to oversee their large-scale vegetable production. This pivotal role requires a leader with a proven track record in managing complex farming operations, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring the highest standards of crop quality and output. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of farm management, from strategic planning and budgeting to day-to-day operational execution. Key Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing strategic farm management plans to achieve production targets.
• Overseeing all daily operations, including planting, irrigation, pest and disease management, and harvesting.
• Managing and motivating a diverse team of farm workers and supervisors.
• Budgeting, financial management, and cost control for the farm operations.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Procuring and managing farm supplies, equipment, and machinery.
• Monitoring crop health and yields, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Maintaining detailed records of farm activities, production data, and financial transactions.
• Implementing and promoting best practices in agricultural technology and sustainability.
• Liaising with suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Farm Management, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in farm management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, preferably in large-scale vegetable production.
• Demonstrated experience in crop planning, production, and harvesting techniques for a variety of vegetables.
• Strong understanding of irrigation systems, soil management, and integrated pest management (IPM).
• Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and profitability analysis.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in farm management software and standard office applications.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
• Knowledge of South African agricultural regulations and market trends is essential.
