About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Farm Manager to oversee a large agricultural estate located near Midrand . This pivotal role involves the strategic planning, execution, and supervision of all farming operations to ensure maximum productivity and profitability. You will be responsible for managing a diverse team of farm workers, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing best practices in crop cultivation and/or livestock management, depending on the estate's focus. This is an on-site position requiring strong leadership and a deep understanding of modern agricultural techniques within the unique South African context. We are looking for a proactive individual who can drive operational excellence and contribute to the sustainable growth of the farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive farm management plans, including crop rotation, irrigation strategies, and pest control.
• Oversee daily farm operations, ensuring efficient resource utilization (water, fertilizer, labor) and adherence to safety standards.
• Manage and motivate a team of farm staff, providing training, setting performance expectations, and ensuring task completion.
• Maintain detailed records of production, expenses, and yields, preparing regular reports for senior management.
• Source and manage relationships with suppliers of seeds, fertilizers, equipment, and other necessary inputs.
• Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure produce meets market standards and client expectations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in farm management or a closely related agricultural leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of agronomy, soil science, and relevant farming technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a workforce effectively.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and basic financial management for agricultural operations.
• A relevant agricultural degree or diploma is highly desirable.
