Job summary

Sovereign is seeking a thorough and committed Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. You will perform ongoing, planned, and preventive maintenance on poultry farm equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and safety requirements.

The role requires an Electrical Trade Test Certificate and at least two years of hands-on experience with electrical motors and starter panels; knowledge of SANS10142 is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Electrical Trade Test Certificate required; 2 years’ hands-on maintenance experience of electrical motors and starter panels.
• Knowledge of SANS10142 standards advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain poultry farm equipment to original OEM specs.
• Comply with service interval requirements for each machine type.
• Address maintenance issues per National standards.
• Ensure allocated job cards are attended to on time.
• Maintain site housekeeping per Biosecurity Risk Control factors.
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur.
• Identify and report risk-related issues.
• Ensure spares stock is kept and recorded.
• Perform preventive maintenance work.
• Plan and schedule cycle maintenance to prepare poultry houses for placements.
• Attend maintenance of electrical, mechanical and basic plumbing systems on poultry farms.
