Placements24 is seeking a proactive Facilities Maintenance Engineer to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of its Pretoria facilities. You will lead a team, manage external contractors, and develop proactive maintenance schedules to prevent disruptions.

The ideal candidate has an engineering degree in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, 7+ years of facilities experience, and strong leadership with CMMS expertise.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of their facilities in Pretoria . This role is integral to ensuring that all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components, are maintained to the highest standards. You will lead a team of maintenance staff, manage external contractors, and develop proactive maintenance schedules to prevent disruptions. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a broad technical understanding, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional working environment in the administrative heart of Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all facility systems.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff and external contractors.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
• Respond to and resolve facility-related emergencies and urgent repair needs promptly.

Requirements

• Engineering degree or a relevant technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management and maintenance engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of building systems: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, etc.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
