Job summary

Wabtec in Brakpan, Gauteng, seeks a Fabrication Supervisor responsible for coordinating production planning for oxyfuel cutting and fabrication. You will ensure material availability, monitor plan vs.

actual performance, and maintain tight SOP adherence to meet delivery targets. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in production planning/supervision in manufacturing, with a Diploma/degree in engineering and proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel.

Qualifications

• Production Planning/Supervisor experience in manufacturing (+3 years).
• NQF Level 5/6 in Engineering or related field; understanding of mechanical drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Excel; knowledge of welding and cutting.

Responsibilities

• Daily/weekly production planning for oxyfuel cutting and fabrication.
• Monitor plan vs actual to ensure efficiency and zero loss to production.
• Ensure compliance to SOP; prepare daily and monthly MIS.
• Ensure availability of all materials; raise requisitions.
• Liaise with planning, stores/fabrication, maintenance and procurement.

The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for materials management and stock control ensure products meets Company quality standard and delivered in time. He is also responsible to analyse performance and reconcile material usage.

Key Performance Areas

(This is not an exhaustive list of functions to be carried out).

To perform the following tasks:

Daily/weekly Production Planning for Oxyfuel cutting and Fabrication

Monitoring plan vs actual on a daily basis an ensuring optimal efficiency and zero loss to production.

Ensuring compliance to SOP.

Preparing daily and monthly MIS.

Ensuring availability of all material, including consumables.

Raising requisitions for material

Ensure safe work practices.

Weekly stock take

Liaise with planning head for daily/weekly planning

Liaise with Stores/Fabrication for material requirement

Liaise with Maintenance for machine upkeeping

Liaise with Procurement for material availability

Experience

Production Planning/Supervisor in manufacturing environment +3 years

Qualifications

NQF Level 5/6 in Engineering or a related field/Thorough understanding of mechanical drawings

Good at Autocad and Excel

Knowledge of welding and cutting process, hand tools, blasting.

Knowledge of TQM / 5S / QC tools would be advantage.

Experience: 10+ years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 8 years Operations Management Experience; experience managing a P&L; cross-functional leadership

Scope and responsibilities: Develop and implement business strategies to deliver on site operating plans and financial performance; direct planning and project execution of multiple manufacturing/product lines; lead localization and supplier relationships; hire and train staff; manage cross-functional engagements

Responsibilities will involve but not limited to: Lead site management for budgets and operating plans; develop strategies and actions; review performance KPIs; ensure site compliance and certifications; manage regulatory and local content requirements; drive site culture transformation; ensure leadership accountability

Person Specification: Strategic mindset, problem-solving, communication, cross-functional knowledge, financial acumen, leadership, stakeholder management

Experience and Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification; minimum 10 years in freight forwarding/logistics or related B2B; strong commercial and financial acumen; CRM proficiency; willingness to travel
