Job summary

The successful candidate will drive cost control and overall operations, lead a small team, and ensure exceptional guest experiences in a remote, high-end lodge setting.

Qualifications

• Five years' relevant hospitality experience or a diploma from a recognised hotel school.
• Solid food and beverage experience including menu planning, costing, presentation, and wine knowledge.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities in a high-end environment.
• Comfortable working independently in a live-in, hands-on role.
• Flexible and open to change and new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Oversee reservations and reception operations to ensure seamless guest arrivals and departures.
• Supervise housekeeping, grounds, and administration to maintain 5-star standards.

About the role

We are currently seeking a dynamic, service-oriented, hands-on, and experienced Assistant management couple or individual who is strong in Food and Beverage for our 5 Star Game Lodge, located near Hoedspruit.

This is a live-in position and requires individuals with strong leadership abilities, a proactive approach, and the capability to manage multiple departments.

Key responsibilities include overseeing reservations, reception, housekeeping, grounds, administration, cost control, and overall operations management.

Key requirements

• A warm and engaging personality, particularly in guest-facing roles
• A passion for hosting, organising, and delivering exceptional service
• Strong in Food and beverage
• Strong team leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate staff
• Experience in high-end hospitality management, preferably at a 5-star level
• Comfortable working independently and in a hands-on role
• Flexible and open to change, new ideas, and differing viewpoints
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to allocate resources, implement control systems, delegate effectively, and ensure smooth daily operations

Minimum Experience

• At least five years' relevant experience in the hospitality industry or a diploma from a recognised hotel school
• Solid Food and Beverage experience, including menu planning, costing, presentation, and wine knowledge
• Maintenance oversight experience
• Required experience and skills can be distributed across the couple
• Basic knowledge of local fauna and flora is advantageous
