Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Offshore Wind Turbine Technician for Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, to maintain, inspect and repair offshore wind turbines. The role involves working at heights in marine environments and ensuring reliability of wind farm assets.

Applicants should have formal qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, 3+ years in wind turbines, experience with high-voltage systems and SCADA, and be willing to obtain GWO BST including sea survival.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification or certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related trade.
• Minimum 3 years wind turbine experience, offshore preferred.
• Experience with high-voltage systems.
• Familiarity with SCADA and diagnostic software.
• GWO BST including sea survival or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, inspections and servicing on offshore wind turbines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Repair and replace faulty components to minimize downtime.
• Use diagnostic tools to monitor turbine performance.
• Follow safety regulations and risk assessments for heights and marine environments.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, repair and inspection records in CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations to optimize performance and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotas and emergency responses.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of turbine components.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and safety practices.
