The ideal candidate has 15+ years in open-pit mining with 7+ years in senior management, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of mining methods and planning software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Master's degree or MBA is highly advantageous.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in open-pit mining with at least 7 years in a senior management role.
• Proven success managing large-scale open-pit mining operations.
• In-depth knowledge of open-pit mining methods, equipment, planning software, and geological principles.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to reside in or relocate to Kimberley, Northern Cape region.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management for all aspects of the open-pit mining operation.
• Ensure the mine operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and execute strategic mine plans with planning and geology teams.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs, and maximise profitability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the mine management team and workforce.
• Oversee the selection, operation, and maintenance of mining equipment.
• Ensure effective implementation of mine planning, scheduling, and production targets.
• Foster a robust safety culture and implement best practices in health and safety.
• Manage relationships with regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, and external parties.
• Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and resource utilization.
• Monitor industry trends and adopt new technologies to enhance operations.
• Ensure ore grade control and mine-to-mill reconciliation.
• Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and the board of directors.
