Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Mine Manager for a permanent, on-site role near Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will oversee underground/open-pit operations, safety, planning, and people management to drive profitability and production targets.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years in mine operations with 5+ years in senior leadership, and holds a Mining Engineering degree (MBA a plus). relocation to the site is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering is required.
• Master's degree or MBA is advantageous for advancement.
• 10-15 years of progressive mine operations experience, with at least 5 years in senior management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of mine operations (underground/open-pit, processing, maintenance).
• Develop strategic mine plans to hit production targets and financial goals.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, and policies.
• Lead and mentor the operations leadership team to drive performance and continuous improvement.
• Manage budgets and capital expenditure.
• Engage with regulators, stakeholders and the local community.
• Promote adoption of best practices and new technologies to improve efficiency and safety.
• Oversee workforce management including training and performance evaluations.
