Job summary

MECS in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks an Estimator with experience in Oil, Gas and Power, Petrochemical, or similar sectors to support project execution on a contract basis.

You will develop and review estimates, prepare notes for reviews, work with the Cost Engineer on variations, and coordinate with departments to meet proposal deadlines.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• BSC Engineering Degree or Quantity Surveying or equivalent (Desirable).
• Registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and agree scope, basis and methodology of estimates.
• Produce estimates based on approved methodology and job specifications.
• Review estimates with Chief Estimator or Manager, Project Controls for accuracy and contingency.
• Prepare estimating notes and client reviews.
• Maintain project and proposal statistics.
• Assist Cost Engineer with contract variations and trends.
• Coordinate with other departments to meet proposal deadlines.
• Analyze project feedback for estimating accuracy.

Our client is currently recruiting for an Estimator with experience in the Oil, Gas and Power (OGP), Petrochemical, or similar sector of the industry to provide support to our client in the execution of projects.

Contract position
Location: Midrand, Gauteng

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Develop, review and agree with the Chief Estimator, or Manager, Project Controls as applicable, the scope, basis and methodology of any estimate to be undertaken.
• Produce the estimate based on the agreed methodology and job specifications.
• Review each estimate with the Chief Estimator or Manager, Project Controls, to confirm that correct estimating methodology has been used and agree the quality and accuracy of the estimate and contingency levels if appropriate.
• Preparation and presentation of estimating notes and all other documents required for departmental, management and client reviews.
• Preparation and maintenance of specific project and proposal statistics.
• Assist the Cost Engineer when required in the preparation of contract variations and trends.
• Liaise closely with the other operating departments to ensure the timely release of information in order to meet proposal/estimate deadlines.
• Ensure that project feedback is properly analyzed to assess the accuracy and consistency of ongoing estimating activity.
• Co-ordinate with Project Manager and other Departments to ensure all required technical and commercial input to the estimate is obtained.

Qualifications
