Job summary

Ubuntu Resource Management is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities and pricing for steel fabrication, SMPP, and mining projects. You will interpret tender documents and GA layouts, price take-offs, and build-up rates for fabrication, corrosion protection, and erection, while sourcing supplier quotations.

The role requires at least 5 years of estimating experience in heavy industry, proven mining tendering, and proficiency with Strumis/ Tekla/

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as Estimator in steel fabrication, SMPP, mining or heavy industrial projects (essential).
• Proven tendering experience for mining clients (essential).
• Able to read and price from fabrication drawings, GA layouts and structural steel specifications.

Responsibilities

• Compile accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules for steel projects.
• Interpret tender documents, GA layouts, fabrication drawings, specifications and client scope.
• Prepare steel take-offs and build-up rates for fabrication, corrosion protection and erection.
• Source and evaluate quotations for materials, consumables, plant hire and subcontracted services.
• Identify project risks and propose value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Keep up-to-date records of steel prices, labour rates, consumables and industry benchmarks.
• Handover awarded projects clearly to the operations team.
• Ensure estimating practices comply with company governance, Health & Safety and QA standards.

• - Valid driver's licence
• - Able to commute daily to Krugersdorp
• - Able to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines

Advantageous:

• - BTech or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil/Structural Engineering
• - Experience with Strumis, Tekla, Bluebeam or AutoCAD
