Job summary

Zeal HR (Pty) Ltd in Centurion, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. You will prepare cost analyses from drawings, evaluate tenders, and manage budgets across project lifecycles.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc QS or BTech, has 3–5 years of relevant experience, and can deliver accurate commercial reporting, monthly valuations, and cost forecasting as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) Quantity Surveying or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) required.
• Quantity Surveying (QS) qualification essential.
• 3–5 years’ experience as an Estimator / QS within the Construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost analyses based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials and labour.
• Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and negotiate with contractors or suppliers.
• Control all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure.
• Monitor and keep track of project progress and measure/valuate variations in the work during the contract for interim payments and final account.
• Work as part of a team to ensure client requirements are delivered.
• Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress and forecast final costs and sales.
• Provide commercial advice to project staff including reviewing and drafting correspondence.

An excellent opportunity has become available to join a leader within the Construction Support Services industry, as an Estimator based in Centurion, Gauteng.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) Quantity Surveying (QS) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
• Quantity Surveying (QS)
• 3 – 5 years’ experience as an Estimator / QS within the Construction industry

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost analysis based on the architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials
• required and labour involved
• Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and negotiate with the contractors or
• suppliers
• Control all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure
• Monitor and keep track of project progress and are responsible for the measurement and
• valuation of variations in the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments
• and the final account
• Work as part of a team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered
• Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and
• sales
• Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing
• and drafting of correspondence
• Able to work well within a team-based environment
• Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure
• commercial controls are in place, understood and followed at all times
• Manage and produce accurate formal reports in accordance with business timetables
• Monitor all commercial information in relation to the project including labour, material and
• subcontractor cost forecasting thus ensuring budgets are adhered to
• Supply all relevant information to the General Manager and or the Managing Director for
• review at the specified intervals set
• Assist the General Manager and or the Managing Director with a range of other duties as
• may be required from time to time
