Job summary

Pele Energy Group in Sandton, South Africa, is seeking a motivated graduate to join its ESG team as an internship. You will assist with ESG data collection, reporting, ESMS development, and policy implementation while gaining exposure to global frameworks and carbon reporting methodologies.

The role focuses on environmental, social, and governance initiatives, offering practical learning across policy, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration within the SA regulatory context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or related field.
• Basic understanding of ESG principles and sustainability practices.
• Familiarity with global ESG frameworks: GRI, TCFD, SASB, IFC.
• Knowledge of GHG reporting methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the ESMS.
• Assist in preparing sustainability reports aligned with GRI, TCFD, and SASB.
• Support ESG initiatives development and implementation.
• Collect, analyze, and report ESG data across environmental, social, and governance metrics.
• Support data management, analysis, and visualization using Excel or similar tools.
• Contribute to GHG emissions reporting (Scope 1, 2, and 3).
• Research sustainability trends, regulatory developments, and best practices.
• Assist with ESG policy implementation and related documentation.
