Job summary

Boxer Superstores in Durban seeks a Sustainability Officer to support the company’s ESG strategy through data management, performance monitoring and reporting. The role will also assist with ESMS rollout and coordinate environmental, resource-efficiency and ESD projects.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, maintain records and dashboards, and contribute to measurable environmental and operational benefits. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in a STEM-related field such as Environmental Science or Engineering.
• 2–5 years’ relevant working experience.
• Experience in Sustainability, ESG, environmental management, sustainability reporting, ESG data management or ESD.
• Ability to collect, validate, analyse and report non-financial/operational data.
• Audit-ready evidence maintenance, data quality and version control.

Responsibilities

• ESG Data Management & Reporting: Manage ESG KPIs, data and reporting templates.
• ESG Performance Monitoring: Monitor targets and review data for insights.
• ESMS Implementation & Monitoring: Support ESMS policy rollout and maintain records.
• Environmental & Resource-Efficiency Projects: Coordinate projects across energy, water and waste.
• ESD & Supplier Sustainability: Coordinate supplier sustainability initiatives and data.
• Governance & Stakeholder Coordination: Manage calendars, submissions and feedback.
• Research & Continuous Improvement: Track regulatory developments and recommend improvements.
• Monitor regulatory developments and recommend practical ESG improvements.
