Job summary

Sea Harvest, a proudly South African integrated fishing and food processing company, seeks an ESG Data Analyst to support external ESG disclosures and internal sustainability decisions.

You will manage the ESG data platform, ensure data quality, and develop dashboards for Exco; assist with IFRS S1/S2, SASB disclosures and regulatory submissions with verified data.

Qualifications

• A degree in environmental science, data/information science, statistics, finance/accounting, sustainability or a related field.
• Around 3 - 6 years' experience in a data, sustainability, reporting or analytical role.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; exposure to ESG/carbon software or BI/dashboard tools (e.g. Power BI) is an advantage.
• Advantageous: training in GHG accounting / the GHG Protocol, or familiarity with ESG disclosure frameworks.

Responsibilities

• To provide the data infrastructure, analysis and reporting systems that underpin both the Group's external ESG disclosure and its internal sustainability decision-making.
• Working closely with the Group Sustainability Manager, Finance and the operating businesses, the role ensures that ESG performance can be measured reliably, reported with confidence to the Group Exco and external stakeholders, and withstand external assurance.
• Data platform and integrity: Manage and maintain the Group's integrated ESG and GHG data platform, including collection, cleaning and validation of data from source.
• Inventory and metrics compilation: Compile environmental performance data from wild capture vessels and aquaculture operations for the GHG inventory and IFRS S2 climate metrics, including marine fuel combustion (Scope 1, 2 and 3), refrigerant/fugitive emissions and purchased energy.
• Reporting and disclosure support: Produce regular management dashboards for the Group Exco covering ESG KPIs, with trend and variance analysis.

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced ESG Data Analyst to join our team.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

To provide the data infrastructure, analysis and reporting systems that underpin both the Group's external ESG disclosure and its internal sustainability decision-making. Working closely with the Group Sustainability Manager, Finance and the operating businesses, the role ensures that ESG performance can be measured reliably, reported with confidence to the Group Exco and external stakeholders, and withstand external assurance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Data platform and integrity

• Manage and maintain the Group's integrated ESG and GHG data platform, including collection, cleaning and validation of data from source.

• Establish and apply data-quality controls – consistent metric definitions, calculation methodologies, version control and a clear audit trail – to ensure data is verified, repeatable and assurance-ready.

• Ensure the business supplies data on time and that it is sanitised, checked and reconciled before use.

Inventory and metrics compilation

• Compile environmental performance data from wild capture vessels and aquaculture operations for the GHG inventory and IFRS S2 climate metrics, including marine fuel combustion (Scope 1, 2 and 3), refrigerant/fugitive emissions and purchased energy.

• Maintain emission factors and calculation tools in line with the GHG Protocol and calculate absolute and intensity metrics across the relevant entities (e.g. SHC, WPP).

Reporting and disclosure support

• Produce regular management dashboards for the Group Exco covering ESG KPIs, with trend and variance analysis.

• Support preparation of IFRS S1/S2 data, SASB disclosures and regulatory submissions with clean, verified data, and provide working papers and evidence to support external assurance.

• Track performance against agreed targets and flag data anomalies or emerging risks to the Group Sustainability Manager.

Engagement

• Liaise with operational data providers – vessel managers, factory and aquaculture sites – to secure complete and accurate source data.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• A degree in environmental science, data/information science, statistics, finance/accounting, sustainability or a related field.

• Around 3 - 6 years' experience in a data, sustainability, reporting or analytical role.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel; exposure to ESG/carbon software or BI/dashboard tools (e.g. Power BI) is an advantage.

• Advantageous: training in GHG accounting / the GHG Protocol, or familiarity with ESG disclosure frameworks.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Strong data-management and analytical skills – data cleaning, validation, reconciliation and turning raw data into clear management information.

• Understanding of GHG accounting and ESG/climate metrics, ideally in an industrial or primary-industry context.

• Able to work across functions – comfortable chasing data from operations and collaborating with Finance.
