About the Role

Our client, a respected facilities management company serving the Polokwane area, is actively seeking a skilled Environmental Services Technician. This role is essential for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across various commercial and institutional facilities. The technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of cleaning duties, utilizing specialized equipment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety protocols. This position requires a strong commitment to providing a clean and healthy environment, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You will contribute directly to the well-being of occupants and the professional presentation of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and specialized cleaning tasks in designated areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, and waste removal. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working order and used safely. Apply cleaning solutions and disinfectants according to established procedures and safety guidelines. Ensure all work areas are left clean, tidy, and free of hazards upon completion of tasks. Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any observed maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report needs for replenishment. Follow established schedules and directives to ensure all cleaning requirements are met efficiently. Assist with deep cleaning projects and special cleaning initiatives as needed. Contribute to a positive and professional work environment by maintaining a diligent and cooperative attitude.

Requirements

Previous experience in a cleaning or environmental services role, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting. Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment. Ability to operate various cleaning machines and tools effectively and safely. Understanding of and commitment to upholding health, safety, and hygiene standards. Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic. Willingness to work flexible hours as required in the Polokwane region.
