Placements24 is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our client in Vereeniging. The role focuses on ensuring energy projects comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards throughout their lifecycle.

You will conduct EIAs, develop EMPs, and monitor environmental performance on-site. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in environmental consulting or management within the energy sector, with strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation and excellent report

Responsibilities

Our client, a prominent developer of energy infrastructure , is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join their team in Vereeniging . This crucial role involves ensuring that all energy projects comply with environmental regulations and sustainability standards throughout their lifecycle. You will conduct environmental impact assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor environmental performance on-site. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to responsible energy development and environmental stewardship in the Gauteng region, specifically within the industrial hub of Vereeniging .

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for new energy projects.
• Monitor and report on environmental parameters such as air quality, water quality, soil contamination, and biodiversity.
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate environmental impacts during project construction and operation.
• Ensure compliance with national and local environmental legislation and permit conditions.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and community representatives on environmental matters.
• Provide environmental training and awareness programs to project teams and contractors.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or management, with a focus on the energy sector.
• Proven experience in conducting EIAs and developing EMPs in South Africa.
