Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer for our Upington, Northern Cape team. You will work under senior engineers on power distribution projects, assisting with design, analysis and documentation to support infrastructure development.

The role offers hybrid work and substantial mentorship to help you grow in power engineering. You will gain hands-on experience with load flow, fault analysis, schematics, and CAD drawings while contributing to site visits and project coordination.

Qualifications

• B.Eng or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering required.
• 0–3 years’ experience in electrical engineering, focusing on power systems or infrastructure.
• Strong academic record and keen interest in power engineering.
• Basic understanding of electrical power systems, distribution and transmission.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in designing electrical distribution systems, substations and related infrastructure.
• Perform basic electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop and fault calculations.
• Prepare schematics, single-line diagrams, and layouts using CAD software.
• Support project planning, scheduling and resource coordination.
• Conduct site visits for data collection and progress monitoring.
