Picknpay Kitchen in Queenstown is seeking a diligent Kitchen Porter/Catering Assistant to support busy catering operations. You will help maintain a clean, organized kitchen, assist chefs with basic prep, and manage dishwashing and waste disposal.

The role offers an entry point into the hospitality industry. Training will be provided, and applicants should be reliable, punctual, and ready to work flexible hours in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not required; full training will be provided.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of and adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift.
• Reliable, punctual with a positive attitude towards work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the business needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and associated areas.
• Wash and store all crockery, cutlery, cookware, and utensils promptly and correctly.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables and portioning ingredients.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Keep stockrooms and storage areas tidy and organized.
• Support the kitchen team by ensuring that necessary equipment is clean and readily available.
• Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and service areas.
• Wash dishes, cutlery, cookware, and utensils using dishwashing equipment and by hand.
• Organize and maintain storage areas, ensuring proper stock rotation and labeling.
• Empty refuse bins and maintain the cleanliness of waste disposal areas.
• Support the kitchen team as needed, contributing to a positive and efficient workflow.
