Requirements

• Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Enrolled Nurse. Proof of current registration with SANC as Enrolled Nurse. Must be able to work within the ethical and legal framework that governs the profession. Candidates must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and in a team. Shift work is required which includes weekends and night shifts. Must have good communication and conflict management skills. Must be able to maintain patients and relatives respect and dignity.

Duties

• To ensure safe and effective clinical nursing practice. Development and implementation of basic patient care plans. Provide basic clinical nursing care. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Demonstrate basic understanding of nursing procedures. At least 1 year experience in HIV/TB environment in a hospital setting. Promote quality of basic nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the institution. Provide TB/HIV case finding including HIV testing service, patient tracing and linkage to care under the supervision of a Professional Nurse. Follow up of TB patients transferred out from the hospital to PHC facilities. Contact tracing of confirmed TB cases and high-risk key vulnerable population especially children. Notification of all confirmed TB cases in the hospital. Ensure adherence to treatment by monitoring continuity of observed TB treatment plans and support. Timeous submission of TB/HIV reports.
