Job summary

Apex Paarl is seeking an experienced English educator to support GET English Home Language and Humanities, with a focus on helping scholars overcome language challenges and understand core texts. The role integrates our curriculum and digital resources for effective instruction.

You will scaffold learning for second-language speakers, provide targeted academic intervention, track progress, and collaborate with colleagues to foster an inclusive, ambitious classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with PGCE and SACE registration.
• Minimum 2 years’ English teaching experience.
• Experience with literacy intervention and multilingual learners preferred.
• Experience with Social Sciences/Humanities or Afrikaans/isiXhosa is advantageous.
• NSC marking experience is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach and reteach Grade GETEnglish Home Language AND Humanities / First Additional Language content, using interactive and language-rich strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Humanities, or related field, with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• SACE registration (or proof of registration in progress).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching English.
• Experience teaching Social Sciences/Humanities is advantageous
• Experience teaching Afrikaans FAL or isiXhosa FAL is advantageous
• Experience with literacy intervention, scaffolding academic language, or supporting multilingual learners preferred.
• NSC marking experience is an advantage.
