Job summary

Square 1 Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering company in Randburg, South Africa, for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and shape technical excellence.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring priorities are clear and deadlines are met across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc in Mechatronics Engineering (preferred).
• Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical engineering degrees also considered with strong multidisciplinary experience.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proven experience leading an engineering department or multidisciplinary team.
• Strong background in project engineering, design engineering and technical solution development.
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary projects (mechanical, electrical, automation) in mining/heavy industrial sectors.
• Experience supporting technical sales, costing, supplier engagement and customer solutions.
• Experience in ISO-controlled engineering environments.
• Exposure to new product development and bespoke engineering solutions is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Create an engaging, accountable, high-performance culture.
• Manage priorities, resources and deadlines across multiple concurrent projects.
• Provide technical leadership on complex engineering solutions.
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations and documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems and standards.
• Collaborate with Sales, Production, Procurement and Service for project delivery.
• Mentor engineers and develop future technical leaders.
• Report to the Managing Director and contribute to engineering strategy.
