About the Role

We are seeking a visionary Energy Storage Solutions Architect to join our dedicated team based in Tembisa, Gauteng . This pivotal role involves designing and implementing innovative energy storage systems that integrate seamlessly with existing grid infrastructure and renewable energy sources. You will be responsible for developing conceptual designs, system architecture, and technical roadmaps for large-scale battery energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of battery chemistries, power conversion technologies, energy management systems, and grid integration challenges. This position is critical for ensuring our client continues to deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective energy storage solutions. You will play a key part in shaping the future of energy resilience and sustainability in South Africa .

Key Responsibilities

Architect and design comprehensive energy storage systems, including battery management systems (BMS), inverters, and control strategies. Evaluate and select appropriate battery technologies and power conversion equipment based on project requirements. Develop detailed system designs, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications. Perform system modeling and simulation to predict performance, identify potential issues, and optimize design. Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct site assessments and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases. Stay current with advancements in energy storage technology, market trends, and regulatory landscapes. Prepare technical proposals and present solutions to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in the design and architecture of energy storage systems or power electronics. In-depth knowledge of various battery technologies (e.g., Li-ion, flow batteries) and their operational characteristics. Experience with power conversion systems, grid codes, and interconnection standards. Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or similar. Strong understanding of energy management systems (EMS) and SCADA. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Superior communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
