We are looking for an experienced Employment Equity Officer to support the development and implementation of Employment Equity and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the organisation. This is a hands-on role combining EE compliance, data analysis, reporting, stakeholder engagement and programme implementation.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive HR professional with 3–5 years of experience in Employment Equity, Diversity & Inclusion or a related HR environment.

You will be comfortable working with legislation, employee data and reporting requirements, while also being able to engage confidently with management and employees at all levels.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of South African Employment Equity legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Can translate legislation and organisational requirements into practical initiatives and actions.
  • Is confident working with HR data, analysing trends and preparing accurate reports.
  • Has strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Is highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with HR and wider business teams.
  • Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.
  • Is passionate about creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Employment Equity & DEI
  • Support the development and implementation of Employment Equity strategies, policies, programmes and initiatives.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to drive diversity, equity and inclusion across the organisation.
  • Support equitable recruitment, selection, retention, promotion and succession practices.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on Employment Equity and DEI-related matters.
  • Support the delivery of training, workshops and awareness initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the organisation's diversity and inclusion practices.
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Employment Equity legislation and related regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes to legislation and provide guidance to the business on new requirements.
  • Maintain effective relationships with relevant regulatory and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct Employment Equity audits and assessments across the organisation.
  • Maintain accurate EE documentation and supporting records.
  • Support the preparation and submission of required Employment Equity reports and documentation.
Data, Reporting & Insights
  • Collect, analyse and maintain employee demographic and Employment Equity data.
  • Monitor trends across areas such as representation, recruitment, turnover, promotions and succession.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations to management.
  • Prepare regular EE reports, dashboards and presentations.
  • Ensure all reporting data is accurate, complete and properly supported.
Stakeholder & Project Management
  • Work closely with HR, management and cross-functional teams to implement EE initiatives.
  • Support the coordination and administration of Employment Equity meetings, including agendas, minutes and action tracking.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables and follow-ups for EE-related projects.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Build relationships with external organisations and community partners where relevant.
  • Provide general administrative and project support to the Employment Equity function.
What do you need?

Qualifications

  • HR, Human Resources Management or related qualification - preferred.
  • Employment Equity / DEI-related certification - advantageous.

Experience

  • 3–5 years' experience in Employment Equity, Diversity & Inclusion or a related HR role.
  • Experience working in a corporate environment is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Employment Equity reporting, compliance and administration.
  • Experience working with HR data, reporting and employee demographics.
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.

Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of South African Employment Equity legislation and regulations.
  • Understanding of DEI principles, practices and best practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
  • Strong reporting and data-analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
