Job summary

Sovereign Foods Ltd in the Eastern Cape is seeking a thorough Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. You will perform ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance on motors and starter panels following SOPs.

The ideal candidate holds an Electrical Trade Test Certificate, about 2 years’ hands-on maintenance experience, knowledge of electronics and PLCs, and a willingness to standby after hours and weekends; driver’s licence and own transport are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electronics and PLC controls.
• Understanding heating/cooling principles.
• General maintenance skills - welding, fitting, plumbing etc.
• Detailed trouble shooting.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Poultry farm equipment to OEM specs.
• Comply with service interval requirements for each machine type.
• Address maintenance issues per National standards.
• Attend to allocated job cards promptly.
• Maintain site housekeeping per Biosecurity factors.
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur.
• Identify and report on risk-related issues.
• Keep spares stock records.
• Do preventive maintenance work.
• Plan and perform cycle maintenance to prepare poultry houses for placements.
• Attend to maintenance of electrical, mechanical and basic plumbing systems on poultry farms.

Job Description

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. Electrician is responsible for ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance, according to standard Breeders operating procedures. This position reports to the Breeders Maintenance Manager and holds the TASK Grade T10. Knowledge of SANS10142 Standards will be advantageous. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Electrical Trade Test Certificate and have 2 years' hands on maintenance experience of Electrical motors and starter panels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Poultry farm equipment to original equipment manufacturers specs;
• Comply to service interval requirements of each individual machine types;
• Address maintenance issues according to National standards.
• Ensure that allocated job cards are timeously attended to;
• Ensure site housekeeping as per Biosecurity Risk Control factors;
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur;
• Identify and report on Risk related issues;
• Ensure that all spares and stock of spares are kept and recorded;
• Do preventive maintenance work.
• Plan, schedule and perform cycle maintenance to prepare Poultry houses for placements.
• Attend to maintenance of Electrical, mechanical and basic plumbing systems on Poultry farms.
