Job summary

Hired Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Field Technician: Millwright to deliver on-site technical service for poultry and piggery equipment. The role covers fault finding, installation, wiring, programming, and routine maintenance at customer sites.

You will travel to Pomona, Kempton Park and other client locations, report to the Operations Manager, and work with installation teams. A red-seal electrician qualification and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Matric and Diploma or higher in electrical and/or mechanical fields.
• Qualified electrician (red seal).
• Experience with installation, repair and servicing of poultry/piggery equipment.
• Knowledge of Skov, CODAF and related products.
• Health and safety compliance knowledge.
• Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Repair and service poultry and piggery products/equipment, fault finding and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical faults.
• Install poultry and piggery equipment according to customer requirements.
• Install electrical wiring, distribution boards, or other electrical components as needed.
• Program poultry and piggery equipment and diagnose errors or problems.
• Provide timely field service reports and maintain documentation.
• Attend to callouts and breakdowns, including after-hours when required.
• Support Operations Manager and Installation Teams on commissioning projects.
• Keep stock records accurate and assist with stock taking if needed.
• Oversee ongoing projects and ensure safe, compliant execution.

JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: FIELD TECHNICIAN: MILLWRIGHT

JOB SUMMARY AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Technician: Millwright is responsible for providing high quality on-site technical expertise and service to customers in respect of the repair and/or servicing of poultry and piggery products/equipment.

The function includes but is not limited to the following:

1.1. Attending to the repair and servicing of poultry and piggery products/equipment including but not limited to fault finding, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical faults.

1.2. Attending to the installation of poultry and piggery products/equipment in compliance with customer requirements.

1.3. Attending to the installation of electrical wiring, distribution board or any other type of electrical wiring or equipment as may be required.

1.4. Attending to the programming of poultry and piggery products/equipment.

1.5. Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.

1.6. Resolve technical and procedural problems.

1.7. Regular customer field visits to inspect installed poultry and piggery products/equipment.

1.8. Provide customer support during field visits.

1.9. Customer service including resolving customer queries and concerns.

1.10. Attending to callouts and breakdowns, including after hour callouts and breakdowns, in order to identify and resolve problems.

1.11. Assisting the Operations Manager and Installation Teams with commissioning projects.

1.12. Completing job cards and attending to general maintenance.

1.13. Assisting with stock taking if necessary.

1.14. Oversee ongoing projects.

1.15. Making ad hoc deliveries of stock as and when required.

1.16. Produce timely and detailed service/installation reports.

1.17. Maintain technical and operational documentation.

1.18. Stays current with technological developments relating to poultry and piggery products/equipment.

LOCATION

Pomona, Kempton Park and any such other locations or destinations as determined by the Employer from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

6.1. Strong technical ability.

6.2. Educational level: Matric Certificate and a Diploma or Higher Diploma (electrical and/or mechanical) and/or another relevant qualification.

6.3. Qualified electrician (red seal), through recognized accreditation entity.

6.4. Relevant technical experience relating to the installation, repair and/or servicing of products/equipment in the poultry and piggery industries.

6.5. Relevant experience with and technical knowledge of Skov, CODAF and company products and/or any other products supplied to customers by the Employer.

6.6. Operation practices and procedures, including Health and Safety protocols and requirements.
