Job summary

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products, seeks an Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. The role covers ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance according to standard Breeders procedures and reports to the Breeders Maintenance Manager.

The ideal candidate must hold an Electrical Trade Test Certificate, have at least two years of hands-on experience with electrical motors and starter panels, and be willing to standby after hours and weekends.

Qualifications

• Electrical Trade Test Certificate is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ hands-on maintenance experience with electrical motors and starter panels.
• Knowledge of SANS10142 Standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain poultry farm equipment to OEM specs.
• Comply with service interval requirements for each machine type.
• Address maintenance issues per national standards.
• Ensure allocated job cards are attended to on time.
• Maintain site housekeeping per Biosecurity Risk Control factors.
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur.
• Identify and report risk-related issues.
• Keep and record spares and stock of spares.
• Perform preventive maintenance work.
• Plan, schedule and perform cycle maintenance to prepare poultry houses for placements.
• Attend to maintenance of electrical, mechanical and basic plumbing systems on poultry farms.

Job description

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Electrician for its Breeders operations in the Agriculture division. Electrician is responsible for ongoing, planned and preventative maintenance, according to standard Breeders operating procedures. This position reports to the Breeders Maintenance Manager. Knowledge of SANS10142 Standards will be advantageous. The ideal candidate must be in possession of an Electrical Trade Test Certificate and have 2 years’ hands on maintenance experience of Electrical motors and starter panels.

Results Required:

• Maintain Poultry farm equipment to original equipment manufacturers specs;
• Comply to service interval requirements of each individual machine types;
• Address maintenance issues according to National standards.
• Ensure that allocated job cards are timeously attended to;
• Ensure site housekeeping as per Biosecurity Risk Control factors;
• Initiate emergency procedures when equipment issues occur;
