Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join a forward-thinking renewable energy company in Gauteng. You will manage electrical design, procurement, and construction for solar and wind projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and to top quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering within renewables, with strong knowledge of inverters, grid interconnection, and electrical protection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering in renewable energy (solar or wind).
• Strong knowledge of power conversion systems, grid interconnection, and electrical protection for renewables.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and simulation tools; familiarity with SA safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical design, engineering, procurement, and construction phases of renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind).
• Develop and review single-line diagrams, load calculations, and equipment specs.
• Oversee BOS components procurement (inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling).
• Ensure compliance with SANS and international codes; coordinate grid interconnection with authorities.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and resources for electrical scopes of work.
• Supervise site electrical activities and ensure safe, quality installations.
• Review contractor submissions and proposals; troubleshoot during construction and commissioning.
