Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for our client in Cape Town, Western Cape. You will manage electrical aspects of diverse industrial projects from conception through commissioning, designing, implementing, and troubleshooting electrical systems for manufacturing plants and processing facilities.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, 4–6 years in industrial automation, and strong project management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4–6 years of hands-on electrical engineering experience in industrial automation.
• Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
• Proficiency with PLC programming and HMI development (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the electrical design, engineering, and execution of industrial automation projects.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for electrical workstreams.
• Select and procure electrical components, including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, and control panels.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Coordinate with site installation teams, vendors, and clients to ensure seamless project integration.
• Conduct FAT and SAT for electrical and automation systems.
• Provide technical support during commissioning and start-up phases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults and control system issues on-site.
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with safety regulations and relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 4-6 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, specifically within industrial automation or manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
• Proficiency with PLC programming and HMI development (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor control, and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, NFPA).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaunt effectively with stakeholders.
• Experience in the Cape Town industrial landscape is a plus.
