AECOM is seeking a Principal Project Lead, Electrical Engineering for data centre projects in Johannesburg. The role combines design, schematics, and field support to deliver mission-critical electrical systems with a hybrid work model.

You will mentor junior engineers and manage multi-disciplinary coordination. Expect at least 8 years of experience in the built environment, a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, and ECSA registration; master’s degree preferred.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of experience in the built environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering; master’s preferred.
• Professional registration as an engineer with ECSA.

Aufgaben

• Design and implement electrical systems for data centre projects.
• Prepare and manage project schedules and cost estimates.
• Perform load assessments and fault level calculations.
• Create s-diagrams, network and electrical schematic designs.
• Conduct hazardous area classification and motor start‑up schematics.
• Size and route cabling; perform lighting calculations and earthing risk assessment.
• Prepare civil & electrical equipment specifications and fire detection systems.
• Coordinate BMS integration and vendor qualification; prepare tender documentation.
• Provide field engineering support and manage project handover and close‑out.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure regulatory compliance.
