Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Electrical) to install, commission, service and repair electrical and electro-mechanical systems at customer sites across the Western Cape region. The role requires hands-on expertise, strong diagnostic abilities, and excellent customer communication to ensure equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in field service or maintenance of industrial electrical equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, and automation.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the region.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electro-mechanical equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnostics to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
• Commission new installations per design specifications and performance standards.
• Provide technical training and guidance to customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Respond promptly to customer service calls and emergencies.
• Document all service activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and support teams to resolve challenging technical problems.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure efficient use of resources during service calls.
