Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an Electrical Technician for our client in Paarl, Western Cape. You will install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution equipment and ensure safe power delivery to customers.

Required: N3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, Trade Certificate (Artisan) as Electrician/Electrical Fitter, minimum 3 years' experience with LV/MV systems, ability to read schematics, and a Code 10/EC driver's license. On-site field work and strict safety principles are essential.

Qualifications

• N3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Trade Certificate (Artisan) as Electrician or Electrical Fitter.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical distribution systems maintenance and operation.
• Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with fault finding and troubleshooting in electrical networks.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, cables, and overhead lines.
• Perform routine inspections and diagnostic tests on electrical systems to identify faults and potential issues.
• Respond to power outages and emergencies, working efficiently to restore service.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment and tools used in electrical work.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and test results.
• Assist with the planning and execution of network upgrades and extensions.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response.
