Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Technician for our Stellenbosch-based group in the renewable energy sector. You will collaborate with electrical engineers to create detailed designs, schematics, and documents for solar PV systems, blending in-office CAD duties with remote project coordination.

The role emphasizes drafting accuracy, adherence to electrical standards, and support for engineering teams in delivering sustainable energy projects.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in renewable energy or construction.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with solar design software (PVSyst, Helioscope) is advantageous.
• Understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, particularly in a solar context.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for solar PV systems using CAD software.
• Assist in the design of balance of system components, including inverters, combiners, and mounting structures.
• Prepare bills of materials and technical specifications for electrical components.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards, building codes, and renewable energy regulations.
• Support project engineers with technical documentation and project coordination.
• Conduct basic site assessments and review installation plans for electrical components.
