Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Electrical Design Technician for an internship in Polokwane. You will assist in designing electrical systems for buildings, including layouts and schematics, under guidance of senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience in real-world projects within Limpopo.

Responsibilities include creating drawings with CAD (AutoCAD, Revit MEP a plus), supporting site surveys, specifying components, and ensuring compliance with SANS and codes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed National Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles and concepts.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD) is essential; Revit MEP is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of electrical systems for buildings, including lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
• Support senior engineers in site surveys and data gathering.
• Help specify electrical components and equipment.
• Ensure designs adhere to SANS and building codes.
• Participate in design review meetings and contribute ideas for improvement.
• Maintain organized project documentation and design files.
• Learn and apply best practices in electrical design and drafting.
