Job summary

Qualifications

• BEng or Bachelors in Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5 years' experience in electrical design, preferably renewables.
• Experience with MV/LV systems and electrical infrastructure.
• ECSA registration or eligibility advantageous.
• Knowledge of SA electrical standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed electrical designs for renewable energy projects.
• Design medium-voltage collector systems, including cable and overhead line solutions.
• Contribute to IPP substation primary plant design and engineering.
• Prepare earthing and lightning protection designs and analyses.
• Produce single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, calculations, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Design and analyse MV and LV electrical systems.
• Participate in project planning, technical reviews, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Provide technical support during project execution, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Conduct site investigations and resolve technical design challenges.
• Prepare technical specifications and evaluate supplier quotations and technical submissions.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards, regulations, client requirements, and quality procedures.
• Contribute to design improvements, standardisation, and engineering innovation.

Requirements:

• BEng or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within renewable energy
• Experience in distribution, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure projects
• Professional registration with ECSA, or eligibility for registration, will be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of electrical system design and analysis
• Experience with cable sizing and routing design
• Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection design
• Experience using PLS-CADD and CDEGS, XGSLab, or similar earthing analysis software
• Knowledge of relevant South African electrical standards and regulations
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver's licence
