About the Role

Our client, a prominent industrial solutions provider, is looking for a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in George, Western Cape. This role is crucial for the design and implementation of advanced electrical control systems and automation solutions for various industrial applications. You will be responsible for translating client requirements into functional and efficient electrical designs, ensuring seamless integration with mechanical and software components. The successful candidate will be passionate about automation technology and possess a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for industrial automation systems using CAD software.
• Select appropriate electrical components, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and control relays.
• Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure cost-effectiveness in component selection.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers and software developers to ensure integrated system design.
• Perform electrical calculations, including power distribution, load analysis, and short-circuit calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC, SANS) and client specifications.
• Assist in the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical control panels and systems.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and field service teams.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Requirements

• National Diploma or B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, particularly within industrial automation.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).
• Strong understanding of PLC programming principles and HMI software.
• Knowledge of various industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
• Familiarity with electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with motor control and variable speed drives is highly desirable.
