Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our client’s Richards Bay operations. You will create detailed electrical schematics, layouts and wiring diagrams for industrial and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with SA codes and international standards.

The role demands a bachelor’s in electrical engineering with at least four years of design experience, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Revit MEP), and precise documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical system design.
• Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
• Solid understanding of low and medium voltage systems, protection schemes, and grounding.
• Knowledge of South African electrical standards and building codes.
• Strong attention to detail and high-quality design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams for power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
• Perform load analysis and component sizing calculations to ensure system integrity and safety.
• Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project specifications and performance requirements.
• Utilize CAD software to create precise engineering drawings and layouts.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and vendors.
