Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a Polokwane-based role in the Limpopo province. You will design electrical schematics, control panel layouts, BOMs, and select components for industrial automation projects, from concept to detailed documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, has 3+ years of design experience, and is proficient in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. A strong understanding of PLCs, VFDs, and SA codes is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
• Select appropriate electrical components, including motors, drives, sensors, and control devices.
• Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accurate inventory management.
• Collaborate with project engineers and technicians to ensure designs are practical and meet project specifications.
• Assist in the commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical control systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design reports and user manuals.
• Support the manufacturing team with design clarifications and modifications as needed.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in electrical design and automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical diploma.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in an industrial or automation context.
• Proficiency in using electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
• Solid understanding of control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation components.
• Knowledge of South African electrical codes and safety standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks effectively.
• Experience in the Polokwane industrial sector is an advantage.
