About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Commissioning Engineer for their Power Generation facilities in Upington . This role is vital for ensuring that new and upgraded electrical systems and equipment are installed correctly, tested rigorously, and brought online safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for developing commissioning plans, executing tests, troubleshooting issues, and handing over systems to operations. This position offers a dynamic experience working on critical infrastructure projects within the energy sector, contributing to reliable power supply, and working within a company culture that emphasizes safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive electrical commissioning plans and procedures for power generation plants and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Perform pre-commissioning checks, functional tests, and performance tests on electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues encountered during the commissioning phase, coordinating with project teams and vendors.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with relevant safety standards, regulations, and project specifications.
• Document all commissioning activities, test results, and final handover reports accurately.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning of electrical systems, preferably in power generation (thermal, hydro, or renewables).
• Strong knowledge of electrical testing equipment and procedures.
