Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Elderly Care Specialist to join their team in Benoni, Gauteng . This role is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens by providing comprehensive care, support, and advocacy. The Elderly Care Specialist will assess the needs of elderly individuals, develop personalized care plans, and coordinate services to ensure their physical, emotional, and social well-being. This position requires a deep understanding of gerontology, common age-related health conditions, and available community resources. You will work closely with families, healthcare providers, and other support services to deliver exceptional care in the Benoni area. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of elderly individuals' needs, including health, social, and functional status.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with seniors and their families.
• Coordinate and arrange for essential services such as medical appointments, home care, and social activities.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to elderly clients.
• Educate families on caregiving strategies and available resources.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, to ensure integrated care.

• Monitor the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Gerontology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in elderly care, case management, or a related healthcare role.
• In-depth knowledge of geriatric health issues, cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia), and mobility challenges.
• Strong understanding of available community resources and support services for seniors in Gauteng .
• Excellent assessment, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to serving the elderly.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Benoni area.
• First Aid certification is an advantage.
