Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Performance Tuner for a contract role based in Mahikeng. You will optimize vehicle engine performance through ECU remapping and tuning on high-performance vehicles within a dedicated automotive shop environment.

The role requires deep knowledge of engine management systems, fuel, ignition, and boost control strategies, with hands-on experience using dynamometers and tuning suites. On-site position suitable for experts looking to apply their craft locally.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience as an Automotive Performance Tuner with a strong portfolio of successful tunes.
• In-depth knowledge of engine management systems (ECU), fuel injection, ignition systems, and forced induction.
• Proficiency with dynamometers, data logging software, and tuning suites (e.g., Cobb Accessport, Hondata, HP Tuners).
• Understanding of engine mechanics, thermodynamics, and performance theory.
• Ability to diagnose and solve complex engine performance problems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement custom ECU tunes for various vehicle makes and models to enhance performance and drivability.
• Utilize dynamometers and diagnostic tools to measure, analyze, and optimize engine performance parameters.
• Adjust fuel maps, ignition timing, boost control, and other engine parameters based on test results.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engine performance issues related to tuning or hardware modifications.
• Maintain accurate records of tuning modifications and performance data for each vehicle.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest tuning technologies, software, and hardware advancements.
• Ensure all tuning modifications comply with relevant emissions regulations where applicable.
