Job summary

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Western Cape is seeking a proactive Groundsman to maintain the lodge’s grounds, gardens, and outdoor facilities, ensuring safety and immaculate appearance for guests. You will inspect infrastructure, manage plants, and support waste handling in a conservation-minded setting.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a strong service ethic, with on-site duties and accommodation provided as part of a dedicated conservation hospitality team.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 qualification is required.
• Valid Driver’s Licence is required.
• English communication skills are essential.
• Must be physically fit and healthy.
• Must be trustworthy and reliable.
• Commitment to environmental sustainability.
• Strong teamwork, time management and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair leaks along pipelines, fences, and other infrastructure.
• Maintain pathways, gardens, and outdoor facilities.
• Water, fertilize, and care for trees and potted plants.
• Oversee cleaning and maintenance of ponds, pools, fireplaces, outdoor furniture.
• Ensure waste segregation and recycling procedures follow environmental guidelines.
• Assist with guest luggage delivery and collection, representing the lodge's service standards.
• Regularly check and report on equipment and machinery condition and safe storage.
• Manage storeroom cleanliness and the safe storage of chemicals.
• Communicate proactively with management regarding maintenance needs.
