Job summary

Barloworld Equipment South Africa is seeking a qualified supervisor to lead a team of artisans and assistants in maintaining and repairing earthmoving equipment. The role emphasizes safety, risk assessments, and adherence to OEM guidelines on service work.

You will manage warranties, customer queries, KPI reporting, and ongoing development of staff, including on-the-job training and performance management. A strong Caterpillar background and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade Test qualification in a relevant trade (e.g., Heavy Earthmoving, Diesel Mechanic).
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as Caterpillar General Mechanic post-apprenticeship or learnership.
• Minimum of 4 years Caterpillar Component rebuild experience with substantial troubleshooting exposure (post-qualification).
• Experience acting as a Supervisor, Team Leader, or performing duties as a Service Planner.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of artisans and assistants in the maintenance and repair of earthmoving equipment and/or components.
• Create a safe environment for all productive and non-productive employees by doing daily risk assessments.
• Perform toolbox inspections and ensure service work complies with OEM guidelines.
• Apply warranty policies and procedures, including warranty decisions and warranty investigations.
• Resolve internal and external customer queries and report team KPIs and prospects.
• Development, performance management and training of the productive team, with regular on-the-job supervision.
